Public invited to view new hospice photography group exhibition

November 22, 2021

North London Hospice’s patient and family photography group, Catching The Light, is delighted to invite the public to view its brand new 2021 exhibition.

If you need a break from the Christmas shopping, pop along to the hospice’s Health & Wellbeing Centre in Barrowell Green, Winchmore Hill on 4th or 5th December to view the new collection of photographs from the group.

The Catching The Light group is made up of patients, family members, carers and bereaved relatives, all with a common creative interest in photography.

Catching The Light 2 reflects the passions of five group members – patients and carers – as they ventured out with their cameras during some of the brightest and darkest days of 2020.

The exhibition, curated by professional photographer Francis Ware, encapsulates the group’s creative endeavours, often against the odds, and showcases the wonders of nature, the eerie stillness of London and portraits of the pandemic.

Wellbeing is fundamental to the self-organised photography group at the Health and Wellbeing Centre and Catching The Light 2 follows their first successful exhibition in 2019 which drew in large crowds at its launch. The new exhibition was unveiled as an online display in the summer but the group are delighted to now invite visitors into the centre to view the collection.

Visitors to the free open house event (10am–4pm) can view the photographs and chat to Catching The Light members who will be only too happy to tell the stories behind the images. There will be opportunities to buy the images, with proceeds donated to North London Hospice.
