Hair-Raising Fundraiser

Mum & Daughter’s Hair-Raising Fundraiser!

When Enfield mum Katy Greenberg decided to raise money for North London Hospice to say thank you for the care it had given her mum Diane, she opted for a sponsored haircut!

She persuaded eldest daughter Ellie to join her for the challenge and the pair had 10 inches of their luscious locks cut in front of friends and family at the Hospice’s North Finchley site.

Their wonderful gesture raised over £1200 for NLH whilst their hair has been donated to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young adults who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Katy’s mum Diane was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis in 2016 and was cared for by hospice staff until she passed away in June 2017.
Katy, a lunchtime supervisor, said: “While mum was being cared for by the Hospice, I spent nearly every day here. The care and attention they gave my mum, Ellie’s grandma, was above and beyond. Not just for the patient, but for us too. We can’t thank our friends and family enough for supporting us in raising such a fantastic amount – almost three times what we expected!”

And the new hairstyle??? “We went to Spain in the summer holidays. Short hair was perfect for the hot weather!”
