Simon Morris MBE joined the Board in 2011 and was elected as Chair in 2024. He qualified as a social worker before joining Jewish Care, one of the largest Health and Social Care charities in the UK. He stepped down as CEO of Jewish Care in June 2018. Currently Simon is a non-executive director for an NHS Foundation Hospital Trust and one of the top 20 care providers in the UK. He continues to be an advisor to Jewish Care and other charities. Simon has a wealth of experience in social work, fundraising and running a charity. He is Chair of the Fundraising Committee and a member of the Finance and External Audit Committee.

Tom Easterling joined the Board in 2019 and was appointed as Vice Chair in 2024. He is a member of the Board’s Clinical Governance and Assurance Committee, the Board Development Committee and Chairs the Organisational Development Committee. Tom has over 30 years experience as a manager in the NHS where he has worked at local, regional and national level. His most recent role was at NHS England, where he was Chief of Staff for the Chair and Chief Executive.

Sam Durling is a commercial lawyer with over 20 years’ experience in both the media sector and the charity sector. Before moving into the charity sector, Sam worked at the BBC for many years advising on commercial issues as well as working on some of the BBC’s charitable projects. Sam is currently the Director of Legal and Governance for the blood cancer charity, Anthony Nolan, where she looks after the charity’s procurement, legal, data protection and governance functions as well as being Company Secretary and advising the Board of Trustees. Sam lives in North London with her husband and 3 children and in her spare time she enjoys pilates, theatre, and spending time with her family.

Andrew Harris joined the Board in February 2021. Andrew is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over 30 years experience in senior financial roles, mainly in the financial services and technology sectors. More recently, he co-founded a fintech startup that developed bespoke software for some of the UK’s largest fund managers. Andrew is Chair of the Finance and External Audit Committee and is also a member of the Retail Committee.

Anna was appointed as a trustee and member of the People & Organisational Development Committee of the Board in 2022. Anna is a management consultant by background having trained at iMPOWER Consulting and KPMG and has held a variety of NHS leadership roles over the last 12 years. She is Director of Strategy at Essex University Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, a large provider of community and mental health services operating across three integrated care systems in the East of England region. Previously she held the role of Integrated Care Programme Director at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, where her work focused on testing new models of person-centred care in partnership with social care, primary care, community and voluntary services. Anna lives in Barnet with her husband and three children.

Ujjal is a passionate local GP, having lived in the London Borough of Enfield for more than 35yrs and we were delighted to welcome him to our board of trustees in January 2022. He is a member of the Clinical Governance and Assurance Committee and has been an Enfield GP for 13 years. He has always campaigned to improve patient experience, reduce inequalities, and improve outcomes for Enfield patients. Ujjal is Co-Lead GP Partner at Medicus Health Partners (MHP), which is the second largest GP Practice in the UK. Ujjal was one of the founders of MHP and is also Clinical Director for Enfield Unity Primary Care Network (EUPCN). This is the second largest PCN in the country and serves half of the population of Enfield. He has spent nearly seven years as Medical Director of the NHS 111 North Central London IUC and is interested in innovation and technology to enable better access, patient choice and new treatment pathways. During the pandemic Ujjal has provided strategic leadership in Enfield, developing and delivering Covid vaccination services. The Medicus Covid vaccination service based at Carlton House has been recognised by stakeholders as pioneering in terms of an innovative seven-day delivery model. Ujjal lives locally in Winchmore Hill with wife Tara and their two young children.

John Reid joined the board in mid-2017. He is a member of the Finance and External Audit Committee as well as the Retail Committee. With an honours degree in Civil Engineering John has over 20 years experience in real estate development and project management. He is Delivery Director at Meridian Water, a new 10,000 home community in North London. Previously Director of Grosvenor’s London development programme specialising in developing heritage assets in Mayfair and Belgravia. He is passionate about sustainable design and beautiful places and buildings. A member of the association of Project Management and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building. He lives with his wife and 2 children in North London.

Beverley has a long and distinguished career in the legal profession. She worked as a Senior Lawyer within the Civil Service and spent 10 years as a Principal Lecturer at Middlesex University. Beverley retired from the Civil Service in 2014 and in 2016 she joined Elder Law Journal where she spent 16 months as Editor. Her publications include the first and second editions of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, A Guide to the New Law, which she co-authored, and the co-authorship of the Department of Health & Law Society’s Guidance on Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. As a Trustee and Member of many organisations and committees during her career – including a recent appointment as a member of the Royal College of Physicians Committee on Ethical Issues in Medicine – Beverley brings a wealth of experience to our Board of Trustees. She is a member of the Clinical Governance and Assurance Committee as well as the People and Organisational Development Committee.

Rob Tobin is a medical lawyer with over 20 years’ experience. He leads Kennedys’ large healthcare team in Cambridge and is the firm’s Head of Medical Law. He is a strong advocate of advance care planning, keen to ensure autonomy and the individual remain at the heart of all medical decision-making. He advises NHS Trusts and private medical providers on all aspects of healthcare law, including medical negligence litigation; end of life decisions; deprivation of liberty; judicial reviews; consent and capacity to treatment; and mental health law. Rob lectures on mental health; mental capacity; medical treatment decisions; inquests; deprivation of liberty; and consent and writes articles on these subjects.

Dr Cate Woodwark became a trustee in 2020 and is Chair of the Clinical Governance and Assurance Committee. She has worked as an Associate Specialist in Palliative Medicine for 15 years. Cate retired from clinical medicine two years ago but remains passionate about end of life care. During her time working in a hospice Cate took a keen interest in education and research, publishing two papers and acting as clinical supervisor to the GP trainees. Cate is also on the board of governors at a comprehensive school in Welwyn where she sits on the HR and Curriculum and Welfare committees.

As an experienced Financial Services technology professional, Saurabh has worked with several major firms over 20+ years to deliver a variety of technology solutions. He brings both vision and a wealth of knowledge in the area of technology to our board. In his previous role with Bank of America he has been involved in building a junior talent pipeline into technology from West Africa. Currently working at Royal Bank of Canada, Saurabh is helping build complex technology systems for their global trading desk. Golf and rock climbing are among his passions. Saurabh’s wife is a clinical immunology doctor and experiences within the family led to Saurabh’s desire to contribute back to the community, in particular focusing on the health sector. He is also a member of North London Hospice’s Retail Committee.

Hayley began her career in corporate finance at Ernst & Young and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2005. Following a move to the charity sector in 2008, she has held leadership roles in fundraising at The King’s Trust and Alzheimer’s Society. Appointed Director of Development at Imperial Health Charity in November 2018, Hayley leads on all aspects of fundraising for five West London hospitals, with her team working across philanthropy, legacies, corporate giving and community activities. Hayley led the charity’s Covid-19 Relief Fund appeal, which raised £3.4 million and funded their urgent response at the peak of the pandemic. A passionate advocate for philanthropy and healthcare, she is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins Medical Philanthropy Institute. Hayley also chairs North London Hospice’s Fundraising Committee.

Sam works at Signet Jewellers, where he holds the position of Director of Stores, as well as being a member of the UK Executive Team. Sam is accountable for the H Samuel and Ernest Jones retail operations across 300 shops in the UK & Ireland. Sam previously held several operational and strategic roles for over a decade at the John Lewis Partnership and started his career as a management consultant at Accenture. Sam is currently the Co-Chair of Governors at Etz Chaim Jewish Primary School and has previously held Trustee positions at the John Lewis Partnership Pensions Trust, and the charity, Langdon.

Marsha is a trained secondary school science teacher, and an award-winning clinical leader that is dually qualified as a registered nurse and a practising midwife. Marsha is a Mary Seacole Scholar (Leadership) and a Darzi Fellow and has over 20 years’ experience in the NHS. Marsha volunteers in a variety of roles and was the founder member of the Caribbean Nurses and Midwives Association. Marsha has diverse experience in health inequalities, global maternal health, patient safety, staff health and well-being, system resilience and quality improvement. In addition, she a strong advocate in supporting equity, equality, diversity and inclusion in all settings. Marsha also has a keen interest in public health, quality improvement, leadership, management, coaching and mentoring, patient experience and staff experience with a focus on BME staff and service users’ experiences. Marsha has won many awards, most recently National Health Care BAME awards Nurse of the year 2023.

Suzanne worked for 20 years as a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist in Camden focusing on older adults with mental illness and with people living with dementia. During that period, she established diagnosis to end-of-life memory services in both Camden and Islington and set up a Home Treatment Team to work specifically with older adults. From 2010-2022 she was also the Clinical Director for services for older adults and perinatal health services at Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust. After retiring from her clinical post, Suzanne was commissioned to carry out a review of older adult mental health services across NCL ICB. She was the Clinical Lead for the London Clinical Network with NHS England from 2019 until 2024. Suzanne has been working as a Medical Associate for the Medical Practitioner’s Tribunal Service since June 2023. Previously Suzanne served as a Trustee for Jewish Care for 13 years and for Jami (Jewish Association for Mental Illness) for seven years. She helped to establish and chaired clinical governance committees in both organisations.
