    Patient and family support

    When someone is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, everyone around them is affected, often in ways they don’t expect.

    Patient & Family Services

    Our Patient and Family Support Services (PAFS) at North London Hospice consists of a multi-disciplinary professional Team of Palliative Care Social Workers and Assistant Social Workers, employed by North London Hospice and work independently of local authorities.

    We also offer spiritual care and support, as well as support from our volunteers.

    Some of the things we can offer:

    Emotional support for patients and families facing terminal illness

    Practical guidance, information, and advice on psychosocial end-of-life issues

    Assistance in accessing external services, including statutory, voluntary, and charitable organisations

    Support for patients and families in talking to children and planning for their future

    Helping to navigate what needs to happen after someone dies

    Signposting to funeral assistance and planning

    Advocacy to uphold patients’ rights and decision-making

    Social support for advanced care planning, including information on power of attorney and memory work

    Consultation and advice on safeguarding concerns

    Signposting for financial and legal matters including weddings and will-writing
