Light up a Life
Light Up A Life is one of our main fundraising events of the year and raises thousands of pounds to fund end-of-life patient care and family support in our community.
Let’s celebrate the lives of those we want to remember together. This year we will once again have a beautiful memorial tree outside North London Hospice in Finchley that will be lit up with a thousand lights, each one sponsored in celebration of someone special.
Make a dedication
Dedicate a Light: We invite you to make a dedication to someone special and see their light shining brightly on our tree. These messages will be displayed digitally at the event and then all of the heartfelt words will be on view at the hospice until the new year.

Donations: There is no obligation to give and Light Up A Life is free to attend, but all donations – no matter their size – will ensure more families receive the specialist care and compassion they deserve this festive season. All donations made in memory are special and help us to continue providing caring, dignified and dedicated support to those who need us most.
Our care is free of charge, but it now costs over £16.3 million a year to run the hospice. Whilst around a third of that amount comes from the NHS, we rely on public donations to make up the shortfall. Thank you for your kindness in helping us to provide this care.

Donations help us care for more patients like Jake, a 22-year-old Arsenal superfan and sports enthusiast, was staying on our Inpatient Unit during last year’s Light Up A Life and who watched the event alongside his family and friends.
Jake’s mum, Bal, told us: "Jake’s favourite time of year was Christmas and even though there was so much sadness at what ended up being his last with us, it felt incredibly important to come together and appreciate the camaraderie and warmth of everyone around us.".
“Even now, when I come back for the various support services, I feel a similar comfort in being at the hospice and in seeing the people who kept me afloat during the worst time of my life and who continue to give me strength and encouragement.”
Bal knows first-hand the power of shared understanding.
While everyone’s grief is their own, events such as Light Up A Life are a reminder that not only are you not alone, but that in the hospice there is a connection built from loss, but sustained by compassion. Bal - Mum of Jake
