Schools Outreach
We are really keen to involve local schools in our outreach programme.
Fundraising for a worthy cause in your school or college can be as fun as it is rewarding. Many young people within our community have been directly or indirectly touched by the work of North London Hospice, and we hope to continue educating future generations on the importance of free, high quality, end-of-life care.
Discover some of our exciting school fundraising activities below. Our team is full of creative ideas and ready to help you bring your event to life.
There are lots of ways students of all ages can get involved in supporting the hospice.

Bring your school community together for North London Hospice with Mighty Movers, our fun-filled, superhero-themed one-mile sponsored run!
Taking part is simple:
Organise a one-mile sponsored run at your school – in the playground, field, school hall or even at a local park.
Encourage children to dress up as their favourite superheroes or design their own hospice hero costumes using bold colours and creative crafting.
Fundraise by collecting sponsorship from family and friends – every mile moved and every penny raised helps support local patients and families.
We’ll send you a Mighty Movers fundraising pack full of ideas, templates and resources to make your event a success. Plus, we’ll post you a set of crafting materials so your little heroes can create their own superhero masks, medals, and accessories to wear on the big day!
Is your school taking part in First Give? Why not suggest North London Hospice as the chosen charity for your class?
Working in teams, students research, fundraise and present on causes close to their hearts, competing for a £1,000 grant to support their charity.
If North London Hospice is selected, we’ll support you with:
Hospice stories from patients and families
Speaker visits or virtual Q&As with our team
Pin badges, pocket-sized facts and fundraising guides
Thank you certificates
Our High 5 Challenge for sixth form and college students is also a popular and entrepreneurial way to get involved and enables students, to develop their own fundraising initiatives to raise money for our charity.
Inline with several of the Gatsby Benchmarks, this challenge has been designed for students to learn from career and labour market information, link curriculum learning to careers, and present some opportunities to experience workplaces.
We hope that these young people can use the High 5 Challenge to practice entrepreneurship, creativity, and teamwork whilst raising money for North London Hospice in these five simple steps:
STEP 1 We can deliver a presentation to your school on the High 5 Fundraising Challenge and take any initial questions
STEP 2 Enter your teams! We will present each team with a business starter kit* and ask them to present a proposal for their fundraising initiative.
STEP 3 We will meet with them to discuss their enterprising ideas and give them their seed money (£5-£30 depending on their proposal outline).
STEP 4 Students will use the time to bring their ideas to life and grow their seed money. They can choose to execute their business plan over a half-term, full-term, or several terms.
STEP 5 The money raised by the challenge is donated to the hospice and will go towards helping to deliver the vital end-of-life care services that North London Hospice provides.
*The starter kit will include templates for their business plan, A-Z fundraising guide, and information on what North London Hospice is and how we work.
Along the way, our North London Hospice team will provide support via meetings and branded supplies to ensure each term are getting the help they need to achieve their business plan.
We appreciate that talking about hospice care with young people can be a difficult and sensitive subject. With this in mind, we are always happy to arrange a speaker to visit your school to host a presentation or informal discussion, tailored to your school and audience.
Age appropriate interactive assemblies
We appreciate that talking about hospice care with young people can be a difficult and sensitive subject. However, we feel it is important because pupils may know someone we have cared for in recent years – teachers, parents, grandparents or friends – or have unanswered questions about end-of-life care.
With this in mind, we have made our assemblies age-appropriate and interactive. We bring along a special treasure chest of items that symbolise the care we provide and encourage pupils to suggest what each item represents. We believe this helps give them an understanding of what we do and provide a positive learning experience within the context of the PSHE curriculum.
There are lots of ways students can get involved in supporting the hospice. Recently, local schools have taken part in our creative arts project, choirs have sung at the Hospice for our patients, and pupils and teachers have fundraised for us throughout the year.
Make a Difference with Every Penny Raised
Here’s how your mighty efforts can truly make a difference:
£7.50 Two sparkling superhero masks could fund a nutritious, home-cooked meal for a patient in our Inpatient Unit.
£24.50 One tray of cakes sold in the High 5 Challenge could cover an hour of at-home care from one of our incredible Community Nurses.
£120.00 could fund art supplies for our Art Therapy courses.
£175 A successful First Give or High 5 team car wash could pay for nightwear for ten patients in our Inpatient Unit.
We loved designing and painting our own Owlet. It was thrilling seeing our children’s creativity showcased on Big Fun Art Adventure's trail in the summer. What an exciting community event to support a wonderful local charity. North London Hospice make such a difference to so many across North London. Hazelwood Schools
