    Accessibility statement for northlondonhospice.org

This accessibility statement applies to the northlondonhospice.org website.

This website is run by North London Hospice. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website, regardless of ability. For example, that means you should be able to:

    • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
    • increase the font size or zoom in on content
    • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
    • listen to most of the website using a screen reader

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet provides free online resources that can help you customise your device and make it easier to use. These include:

    • how to adjust your device’s visual settings
    • how to navigate a site using a keyboard
    • how to make your device talk to you

    How accessible this website is

Our website is developed using valid HTML5, CSS and JavaScript and, where possible, follows the standards set out in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.

The site is responsive and works across a range of devices and browsers. It has been tested across modern browsers and with screen readers.

We aim for this website to meet WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA standards. However, we know some parts of the website are not fully accessible yet.

    Known accessibility limitations

We are aware of the following issues and are working to improve them:

    • some video content may not have captions or transcripts
    • audio-only content may not always have a text alternative
    • PDFs and other downloadable documents are not always fully accessible
    • some images may not include appropriate text alternatives
    • some parts of the website may not be fully navigable using a keyboard
    • some online forms may be difficult to use with a keyboard or assistive technology
    • some colour combinations may not meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA contrast requirements

    Non-accessible content

    Video and audio content

We aim for all video content to include at least one of the following:

    • subtitles
    • captions
    • a transcript

Some older videos may not consistently meet these standards. We are working to improve this over time.

    Downloadable content

Our website includes downloadable resources such as PDFs and Word documents. Not all of these are currently fully accessible. We are working towards improving the accessibility of these documents and, where possible, reducing reliance on PDF formats.

    Colour contrast

We have tested the website’s colour palette. While many colour combinations meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA requirements, some do not. We are reviewing and updating these where possible.

    Third-party content

This website includes third-party tools and content. We cannot always guarantee the accessibility of third-party platforms, but we aim to work with suppliers who prioritise accessibility.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are committed to improving accessibility across our digital services. This includes:

    • regular reviews of content by internal teams
    • automated accessibility testing
    • manual checks of key journeys and templates
    • addressing issues identified through user feedback

An accessibility audit was carried out in January 2026 to help identify areas for improvement.
