Compassionate Neighbours Groups Return To Enfield

A lifeline for people with life-limiting illnesses who are socially isolated and/or lonely, Compassionate Neighbours offers friendship and a listening ear to people who would like some informal social and emotional support in the community.

It was wonderful to welcome the Compassionate Neighbours Games & Knitting Groups back to the North London Hospice Enfield site this week.

The groups now meet every Monday from 11am to 1pm, either in the kitchen or conference room, providing a friendly and welcoming space for patients, carers and our Compassionate Neighbours to connect, enjoy a game, share conversation, or bring along their knitting and crochet projects. This week's sessions saw 17 people attend. The atmosphere was warm, lively and full of conversation, highlighting the importance of community connections and social support.

Alongside the return of the Enfield groups, our Knitting Group at the Wood Green Living Well Centre continues to meet every Thursday from 11am to 1pm, providing another opportunity for people to come together, build friendships and enjoy crafting in a supportive environment.

The Compassionate Neighbours programme is currently being re-established, with volunteer refresher training planned later this month. We look forward to sharing further updates as the programme continues to develop.
