Important update for referrers: Resuming inpatient admissions at Edgware Community Hospital

From 1 July 2026, all inpatient services will move to Jade Ward at Edgware Community Hospital. From this date onwards, all new inpatient referrals will be admitted there.

It is anticipated that North London Hospice will be operating an Inpatient Unit from Jade Ward until further notice, subject to completion of the building work in Finchley, which is expected to be in autumn 2027. We have 12 inpatient beds at Jade Ward, Edgware Community Hospital. 

From 1 July we will also launch our new referral criteria, which will also be displayed on our website. We will continue to deliver our community as well as outpatient and wellbeing services as normal during this time. 

From 1 July 2026: Recommencing admissions and launch of new referral criteria

Referrals for adults (aged 18 and over) and their families or carers who are living with an advanced, progressive, life-limiting illness. Our aim is to enable people to live and die well. Referrals must meet the criteria for Specialist Palliative Care.

The referral process remains unchanged and further information can be found on our website along with the Pan London referral form. Referrals are managed through our Care Coordination Centre; they can be reached by telephone on 0800 368 7848 or email nlondonhospice.ccc@nhs.net.

This is the most ambitious piece of work that we have undertaken since the hospice was built in the 1990s. This is the start of what will be a hugely exciting, as well as challenging time, but one which will dramatically improve the experiences of our patients and their loved ones.

We are proud to be able to continue to provide inpatient care, something which other hospices undertaking similar projects, have not always been able to do.
