North London Hospice Responds to Autumn Budget 2026
Responding to the Autumn Budget 2026 Declan Carroll, Chief Executive of North London Hospice said: “Today’s budget was a missed opportunity to provide much needed support for the hospice sector. It was disappointing that hospices were not so much as mentioned during the budget announcement this afternoon, especially given previous announcements about social care reform.
“Our sector continues to face a severe funding crisis and requires urgent and long-term investment. Over half of hospices have made, or are considering, cuts in service. Our patients and communities deserve better.
“Whilst we understand that further announcements regarding hospice funding may come, with running costs of over £16 million per year and growing demand for our services, we need action now. We urgently require support to manage the immediate pressures as well as a sustainable funding model, fit for the future.
“The Government previously affirmed that hospices are vital to the 10-year health plan. We look forward to working constructively with them, Hospice UK and with our colleagues across our sector, to ensure that our communities do not miss out on dignified and compassionate end-of-life care.”
