Retail shop volunteers

Location: Shops are spread throughout the boroughs we serve. Find out more about our shops here.

Days of the week: Monday to Sunday. Shifts are typically around four hours.

Purpose of the role: To work as part of a team, assisting the shop manager with the everyday running of the shop, providing a welcoming retail experience, and helping to generate vital income needed to provide our services. We welcome you helping our shop managers in sorting and preparing stock for sale, serving customers, using a till, putting your eBay knowledge to good use to maximise sales with those special finds, or providing strength helping our van drivers to collect and deliver furniture to our specialist furniture shops.

Requirements: Completion of online or paper application form, a taster session and informal volunteering interview, two references; completion of on-the-job induction and training. You must be 14 or over to apply for this role.

How to apply

Not sure just yet? You can register your interest in volunteering at one of our shops by signing up for a no-obligation taster session. A taster session gives you the opportunity to try out the different tasks involved, see the environment, and learn a bit more about how our shops work before you decide whether you’d like to volunteer for us. Pop into your local shop to speak to the shop manager and arrange a session or email us at retail@northlondonhospice.co.uk to arrange.
