Congratulations Penny Gluckstein MBE

January 6, 2023

We are delighted by the news that our Patron, Penny Gluckstein, was awarded an MBE in the new year’s honours list for her services to the community in the London Borough of Barnet. Penny has enjoyed a long life of service to her London Borough of Barnet community.

After many years as a volunteer with the Citizens Advice Bureau in Grahame Park, she became a magistrate and spend 24-years on the bench. In the last 30 years, Penny’s support has been instrumental to North London Hospice. She founded the Mill Hill and Totteridge Support Group, which has raised over £5 million for North London Hospice.

Penny’s long association with the hospice has involved stints as a volunteer on the Inpatient Unit, as a Trustee and now as a Compassionate Neighbour, helping people facing the end of their lives in our community avoid social isolation.

Declan Carroll, Chief Executive at North London Hospice said: “This is a well deserved award for Penny and so well deserved – we are so lucky to have Penny and so many others in our community like her to support our work. Congratulations Penny!”
