Norma’s Knitted Life Story

October 20, 2022

As part of the Stories of Enfield project, our knitting group turned the life story of local resident Norma into a knitted artwork. And we are delighted the finished piece has gone on display in the concourse area at Enfield Chase station this week for all to see.

Our knitting group of patients, volunteers, carers and Compassionate Neighbours, spent weeks creating the colourful mural before Norma was invited to North London Hospice – Enfield for the grand unveil.

Enfield Council’s Stories of Enfield programme has funded 13 community heritage projects which explore diverse elements of Enfield’s cultural heritage and history. MHA Communities created one of the projects in which young volunteers interviewed older residents about their memories of Enfield. The interviews have been made available to read and some developed into pieces of art. We were delighted to be asked to create our unique artwork depicting Norma’s life.

“Thank you to each and every knitter who has helped to turn Norma’s story into a visual masterpiece. The hard work and dedication shown by all has been truly inspiring,” said Toni Fielding from MHA Communities.
