North London Hospice Welcomes Geoffrey Hill As New Patron

March 25, 2022

Geoffrey Hill, who was a member of the North London Hospice Board of Trustees for 27 years, has been appointed as one of the charity’s new Patrons.

Geoffrey’s successful career as a chartered accountant meant the hospice benefited from his financial expertise for almost three decades. His guidance was instrumental in ensuring the hospice has a sound financial base from which to serve its community.

He will now enter a new phase in his relationship with the organisation as a Patron, supporting and promoting its work in the North London communities it serves.

Geoffrey Hill said: “Who would have thought that a chance conversation in a taxi with a professional colleague who asked if I knew anyone who might be prepared to volunteer their time on the board at North London Hospice, would result in me being in that post for 27 years!  I shall continue to support and promote the hospice in any way that I can.”

Chair of Trustees Lis Burgess Jones added: “Geoffrey has brought a wealth of knowledge to the board of trustees, for which we are extremely grateful, and I’m delighted he will remain connected with the hospice in his new capacity as Patron, where he will continue to support and promote its work within our North London community.”

Geoffrey takes up his new role alongside Penny Gluckstein, the founder of the Mill Hill and Totteridge Support Group, which raised more than £5 million for the hospice over 30 years.

The hospice has a total of eight Patrons including The Bishop of Edmonton, Dame Maureen Rosenthal DBE and the Auxiliary Bishop of Westminster
